  • De valetudinis cordis procuratione. De venenis. Finely written in a humanistic hand, 31 lines to a page. Large illuminated initial C in gold and colours, with inter-leaved decorated marginal ornament, within which in the lower margin is an emblazoned coat of arms: within a wreath Argent,a bull rampant. Or. Smaller illuminated initials, D on fol. 23v, and V on fol. 40v in gold and colours with smaller marginal decoration. The ornamental capitals are in the same style as Ms. No. 17. Capitals and some paragraph marks in alternate red and blue: headings in red. Fol. 1 (red) [Word erased] arretini de ualetudinis cordis procurati/one opusculum incipit.//Capitulumprimum de cordis ac etiam de reliquorum menbrorum [sic] creatione./Cor est animatorum omnium mem/brorum princeps... 40v, line 5 ... Iam/m[sic] de cordialibus medicinis supra satis dictum est quare pro eis/ad illa loca redeundum. line 7 (red) De venenis/Capittulum [sic] primum de uenei diffinitione et eius generibus./VEnenum proprio uocabulo enuntiatum est medicina/corpus humanum qualitate ad mortem du/cente alterans... 76v (End)...   • This work has not been printed, and the original MS. given by the Author to Piero de'Medici, is in the Laurentian Library at Florence. [Cf. bandini. Cat. Vol. III, col. 53, cod. xxix.] This contains a dedicatory preface, not found in our MS. There is a description of the work in Thorndike's 'Science and Thought in the 15th Century', 1929. Chapters II, V. Appendices 9-12.
