Le manuscrit, copié dans le Sud-Ouest de la France, n’est pas originaire de Moissac (cf. Dufour, La Bibliothèque, p. 117) mais il a appartenu à la bibliothèque de cette abbaye (cf. Delisle, Cabinet des manuscrits, I, p. 519) ; en effet, il figure dans le catalogue, établi en mai 1678 par M. Foulhac, des manuscrits de Moissac destinés à être envoyés à Colbert ; il figure également dans l’inventaire établi par le roulier de Limoges, chargé de transporter les manuscrits de Montauban à Paris (cf. Dufour, La composition, p. 183). De la collection de Colbert (cf. cote au f. 1r, « Cod. Colb. 888 »), le volume entra à la Bibliothèque Royale en 1732, avec d’autres manuscrits colbertins (cf. au f. 1r, cote « Regius 3990 »).
