Ce manuscrit a appartenu à la bibliothèque desrois aragonais de Naples . Il a été saisi par Charles VIII en 1495 et apporté au château d'Amboise, puis transféré à la Librairie royale de Blois. Ce manuscrit est mentionné dans l'inventaire du transfert de Blois à Fontainebleau en 1544 : "Ung autre en papier, aussi italien, intitulé Mascachia de mestro Facio, couvert de cuir tanné" (Omont n° 1735 ) et dans le catalogue de la bibliothèque du roi à Paris à la fin du XVIe siècle : "La chevalerie de Fatio du gouvernement des chevaux" (Omont n° 2687).
