Si ce manuscrit ne figure pas au catalogue de 1550, il fait cependant partie des notices qu’Ange Vergèce a préparées pour un lot de manuscrits acquis peu après rédaction du catalogue de Fontainebleau. Ces dix-sept volumes sont tous reliés aux armes d’Henri II. Les notices sont publiées comme Supplément au catalogue de Fontainebleau (Omont, p. 455-458). Le Paris. gr. 2479 est identifié avec le n. 12 de ce catalogue : ΝΚΟΜΑΧΟΥ ΑΡΙΘΜΗΤΙΚΗ Βιβλίον β’ μήκοις, ἐνδεδυμένον δέρματι καστανῷ, ἐν βεβράνῳ, ἔστι δὲ Νικομάχου ἀριθμητική. Il n’y a aucune indication de provenance. La reliure décrite par Vergèce doit être celle du manuscrit à son arrivée, juste avant qu’elle ne soit remplacée par la reliure royale actuelle.Ce manuscrit a ensuite servi d’antigraphe au Paris. gr. 2484 (qui contient le commentaire attribué à Sotérichos) copié par Ange Vergèce.
