    • 1 volume; 188 leaves folio. 30 x 20 1/2 cm. On vellum and paper, in quires of two vellum and six paper leaves. 19th cent. diced calf binding. The end is wanting, and foleave 18 has been almost entirely torn out: lower margin of the last leaf slightly cut, and text rubbed.

  • Sermonum scientiae medicae libri septimi tractatus tertius et quartus: de chirurgia. (Incomplete). Written in a small current hand, 31-33 lines to a page. Large ornamental initial D on fol. 1, rubbed; capitals and paragraph marks in red. Fol. 1 DEo prestante sufragium [sic] incipiam tractatum 3m huius sermonis. 7i. qui / continet scripturas duas in quarum prima dicetur de cyrugia ... / ... / (line 4) ... Scriptura secunda est de egritudinibus / pluribus de quibus non est dicta curacio in sermonibus precedentibus ... 66 ... superet inunctio in mixtione. // Explicit. Tercius.   • This work was first printed as part of The 'Liber sermonum' at Pavia 1481-84: and separately in 1507. There is a good account of it in Gurlt's 'Geschichte der Chirurgie', Vol. I, pp. 805-821.
  • From the Collection of the Abbé Celotti, sold at Sotheby's 14/3/1825, Lot 67. Phillipps MS. No. 908, with his Library stamp. Sold at Sotheby's 11/6/1898, Lot 853, and acquired by Dr. Frederick William Cock [1858-1943], whose Ex-libris is pasted inside the upper cover, with an autograph note '1898. pret. [word struck through] p. auri quat.'.
